Docs correct week-old boy’s heart defect

A seven-hour open heart surgery was performed by doctors from Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital, Andheri, on the week-old son of Seema and Dutta Palkar on Thursday to correct his rare heart defect. Priyanka Vora reports.

On Wednesday, the Hindustan Times had reported the Karjat couple’s ordeal when they were unable to find a single free ventilator for their son at five public hospitals in the city.

The boy’s parents, meanwhile, were overwhelmed with offers of help pouring in from everywhere. On Thursday, they had received Rs. 76,000 in donations.
