The Kurla police, on Wednesday, arrested a 35-year-old resident doctor for allegedly molesting a Kurla-based woman at a municipal hospital on Sunday. The doctor, Vivek Mane, was arrested following woman’s complaint.

The woman, 27, had gone for a check-up to the Khan Bahadur Bhabha hospital on Sunday as she had a pain in her neck and shoulder. During her check-up, Mane allegedly touched her inappropriately.

“Mane checked her shoulders and neck and then touched her private parts,” said Laxman Bhalerao, senior inspector at Kurla police station. The woman escaped and lodged a complaint.

“We are conducting an inquiry into the case,” said a senior medical officer at Bhabha Hospital, Kurla.

The police have registered a case of molestation under section 354 (outraging a modesty of a woman) of the Indian Penal Code. The police will produce Mane before the local court on Thursday.

Bank manager arrested for molesting customer
Mumbai: A bank manager was arrested by the Bandra police for allegedly molesting a woman who had come to the bank for a loan. The police identified the accused as Anand Mishram, 56, who works at the Cuffe Parade branch of a private bank and is a resident of Malad (East).

Mishram, on Tuesday, asked the woman, who needed a loan for the medical treatment of her ailing father, to meet him at Bandstand in Bandra (West) after working hours.

The woman told police that Mishram gave her the loan documents at a coffee shop there. He then told her if she wanted her loan to be sanctioned she would have to have physical relations with him.

“The angry woman left the coffee shop, but Mishram followed her. When she got into an auto, he got in after her and allegedly molested her. The woman screamed for help, causing passers-by to gather around. They caught Mishram, beat him up and handed him over to the Bandra police station,” said an officer API, Mukund Yadav.
