The cine associations of the Shiv Sena and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) have warned filmmakers from casting Maria Susairaj, the convict in the Neeraj Grover murder case, who was recently released from jail, in films and television shows.
They have threatened to resort to violence if their diktat is not followed. “Maria is convicted for a heinous crime and we will not allow her to work at any cost,” said Shalini Thackeray, president, MNS Cine Workers Association.
“Tomorrow filmmakers will cast terrorists and criminals in their films,” she added. She said party would adopt protest, if filmmakers and TV producers fail to respect public sentiments.
Sena’s cine association Bharatiya Chitrapat Sena (BCS) has also slammed the casting rumours. “People with a criminal background come out of the jail and become stars in television shows. After Bunty Chor, now people are making a bee line for Susairaj,” said Abhijit Panse, president, BCS.
