Calling them hypocrites, the Shiv Sena asked social activist Anna Hazare and his teams not to take false-pride in creating an anti-Congress sentiment in the country.

“To say that the Congress was defeated in the Hissar bypolls because of Team Anna’s campaign is far-fetched. It is better if they stay away from such hypocrisy,” an editorial in the Sena mouthpiece Saamna said. Views expressed in Saamna are seen as Sena chief Bal Thackeray’s comments.

The editorial added that in Hissar, the Congress was always in the third position and remained so even after the by-polls results were out.

“The issue of price rise has rattled the Congress government at the Centre and the people from all five states going to polls have made their decisions…. Mamata Banerjee (TMC) has threatened to withdraw support. DMK is also restless. If they withdraw support, the coalition will break and government will collapse. So Team Anna has no right to take credit for this,” the editorial said.

The Sena mouthpiece strongly criticised Hazare for his flip-flop attitude saying at times he is seen praising Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi and on other occasions seen talking in favour of Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

“Anna has come out and announced his campaign against corruption in the five state elections in case the Jan Lokpal bill is not tabled in the winter session. But what right does he have when members of his core team have allegations of financial irregularities against them,” it added.
