A senior citizen women and her 40-year old disabled daughter were found brutally murdered on Thursday night at their isolated villa located at Malvani area of Malad. Police suspect robbery to be the motive as two servants who were hired recently have gone missing after the murder.

According to the information provided by the Malvani police station officials, the incident happened inside Rosy villa of Masterwadi lane. The officials added that the accused assaulted the two women with an iron rod, seriously injuring their heads.

Mohanlal Goswami (42), a businessmen and an acquaintance of the family called up a relative of the family on hearing some cries coming out of the villa. The relative then asked him to contact the police.

“ While Antonita Merry Kausti (65) was declared dead before admission to the hospital, Betty Verguese (40) her daughter breath her last at the hospital” said Deputy Commissioner of police (zone XI) Sanjay Banerjee.

Based on the prima facie evidences, police suspect it to be case of robbery as the two servants hired by the ladies were found missing by the police. The police so far have not been able to ascertain the amount of the missing valuables and have registered a case of murder.

It has been learnt from the reliable sources said that one among the two servant frequently used to ask for money from his master. Due to which there used to be friction with them. The police suspect that on Friday night the servant got into quarrel with his masters over the same issue and in the spur of the moment killed them with an iron rod.

The officials said that the isolation of the villa from the nearby fishing villages and the darkness surrounding it helped the accused in fleeing away from the spot without being caught. “ I am just clueless as why and who murdered them” said a weeping relative of the deceased present at the Malvani police station.

The police have also not ruled out a property dispute as the villa and its adjoining plot is worth several crore in the open market. Betty’s husband who stays with their two young daughters in Pune is also being questioned in the case for this reason. He was later given a clean chit.
