Police said they will record Rabea’s statement again to get a detailed version as she is in shock.

“In her first statement, Rabea said she was living in London until she moved to Mumbai in April to live with Jiah. She said Jiah was a fun-loving girl, but for the past two months she had been very depressed. In her last text message to Jiah about an hour before she killed herself, Rabea said she had asked Jiah to eat and relax and that she loved her,” said a source in the Juhu police.

Aditya Pancholi and Mahen-dru’s statements were recorded as Rabea was dining with them when Jiah ended her life.

“Karan’s statement was recorded as he was with Sooraj at a five-star hotel in Juhu when Jiah visited Sooraj’s residence before she committed suicide. Deva has said Sooraj had made him lie to Jiah that he could not take her calls,” the official said.

The police said they have learnt Neelu was Sooraj’s jeweller and was in touch with him only to get her payment.

“There is no evidence to prove someone abetted Jiah’s suicide, although no one has been given a clean chit. We will record her mother’s statement again and if she alleges foul play, a case will be registered accordingly. As of now, it is a case of suicide,” said Arun Bhagat, senior inspector, Juhu police.
