For Himanshu Acharya, 15, and two of his friends from Modern English School, Dadar, securing 100% in their Secondary School Certificate (SSC) exam, was a gateway to sticking together in college.
On Tuesday, Acharya, Shrir-ang Davdekar and Durvesh Kalke were on the first merit list for the science bifocal (vocational) course at DG Ruparel College, Matunga. "The course and the college are highly regarded. Having friends there is an added incentive," said Acharya.
This year, eight out of 10 SSC students with a 100% score have opted for the science bifocal course at Ruparel College.
"I can score well in the vocational course and it will help me pursue my engineering dream," said Anisha Motwani, whose 100% score got her admission to Saraswati Education Society's junior college in Thane.
For Vrushali Sasodiya, 16, scoring a 100% also meant shifting to Mumbai from her Jalgaon home. She didn't apply for the online admission process, instead joined the PACE Junior Science College, which conducts offline admissions. "I came to Mumbai as it has the best junior colleges," she said.
