A 47-year-old eunuch was arrested on Tuesday for assaulting a passenger of an outstation train when he refused to give her money.

The Borivli government railway police said that Divya Islam Khan, a resident of Borivli (West), has been arrested on charges of causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means.

The victim, Ram Harijan, 55, who was travelling in the second-class compartment of Avadh Express, was going to Uttar Pradesh to drop his eight-year-old grandson.

A resident of Juhu Koliwada, Harijan, who runs a cutlery stall, boarded the train from Bandra Terminus around 10.50pm on Monday.

After Harijan settled down, three eunuchs, who had boarded the train from Bandra Terminus, approached him for money.

"I gave Rs 10 to each of them. Around 11.40pm when the train came to its first stop at Borivli. Khan boarded the train and asked for money. I told her that I had given money earlier and had no change left. But Khan started arguing," Harijan said in his statement.

"Angry that she did not get money, Khan removed a sickle which was hidden under her trousers. Her attempt was to threaten Harijan, however, she lost control and the weapon brushed past Harijan's face causing minor injuries," said PM Karyakarte, senior inspector of Borivli GRP.

Harijan was taken Bhagwati Hospital and discharged in few hours.

The other passengers in the train informed the railway police about the incident and Khan was arrested from the spot.

Harijan's grandson did not suffer any injuries, said the police.
