The Hyderabad-based 42-year-old technical co-ordinater of VETA (Citizens for Verifiability, Transparency and Accountability in Elections), Hari Prasad has not been co-operating with police investigations.

The MRA Marg police on Thursday, told the court that they needed to find out the identity of two other activists from Maharashtra, who allegedly helped Prasad. Prasad was arrested from Hyderabad, on Saturday, for allegedly stealing an Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) from the Mumbai Collecter’s office. “We asked for Prasad’s custody as we had not recovered the EVM machine,” said an officer. Prasad, confessed that he is innocent and that he had only used the machine for demonstration, and not robbed it.

The police have not been able to recover the machine yet.
