Chief Minister Ashok Chavan on Saturday asked the Centre to extend the subsidy on palm oil and tur dal to rein in the price of these essential commodities.
“I request you to kindly consider extension of the subsidy scheme for both these commodities beyond the stipulated dates of October and March 2010,” Chavan said at the national meet on price hike.
He asked the Centre to expedite reimbursement for paddy procured under the minimum support price scheme of the Centre.
The Centre owes the state Rs 300 crore for paddy procured from 1999-2003.
He also requested for a 25 per cent reduction in the central issue price to check price rise of wheat and rice. HTC
