Bookies are busy scouting for hotel rooms or flats located on the top floors of high-rises near Aarey Milk Colony, not because they want to enjoy the lush view, but to keep a watch on rainfall in the western suburbs.
Bookies, who expect monsoon to arrive in Mumbai after June 10, will open rates for monthly rainfall from June to September and the total seasonal rainfall.
Till date, bookies opened rates on the amount of rainfall measured in Colaba by the weather bureau. “This monsoon, we plan to open rates for rainfall recorded in Santacruz too,” said a bookie requesting anonymity, because betting is illegal in India.
So, to get an unobstructed view of most of the western suburbs, bookies are looking for places located on high floors near the Aarey Milk Colony area.
Similarly, to get a clear view of the eastern suburbs, bookies are looking to rent flats or hotel rooms in high-rises in Mulund. To get an unobstructed view of the national park, they are looking to rent flats on the top floors of a tower located on Ghodbunder Road in Thane.
The bookie added that to open rates a few outstation bookies from Kolkata, Jaipur, Ahmedabad and Delhi will arrive in the city in the next few days.
