“Designer Hippies are bringing the SUN “DOWN”. Let’s rock this town, so get ready to get high…Please do not try to FLY…Because Flying is an illusion not a reality, come with us and we make you feel gravity: This is the invitation for the sundown party at the Oakwood Premier hotel that was raided on Sunday night.
The bottom of the invite read ‘support the music, not the drugs.’
The invitation was posted a week ago on the Facebook wall of Vishay Handa, director of the hotel who has been arrested on Monday.
By Saturday evening, 56 people on Facebook had confirmed that they would be attending the party. The confirmed attendants included many foreigners, mostly Russian women and a number of small-time actors.
Designer Hippies is an event management company from Goa that organises parties.
Suryaprakash, the contact person for table reservation at the party, said, “I am often the contact person for the guests whenever a party is organised in the hotel. Though I was the contact person for Sunday’s sundown party, I was not present at the party as it was my weekly off.” The police have questioned Suryaprakash, who is also the deputy manager at the hotel. Suryaprakash added that he had no idea if there were any drugs at the party.
Following the finding of cocaine and MDMA, which falls under the category of banned narcotics drugs, at the sundown party, the police department is contemplating revoking the licence of Oakwood Premier hotel. “The action will follow after the zonal deputy commissioner of police (DCP) submits a detailed report of the raid to us,” said Shiela Sail, DCP, police headquarters, which does the police licensing for hotels in the city.
