Farhan Azmi, a hotelier and son of Samajwadi Party legislator Abu Azmi filed a complaint about getting extortion calls.

He said a man claiming to be gangster Ravi Pujari has been threatening to kill him if he fails to pay Rs 10 crore.

"I got four calls today on my cell phone from a UK number," said Azmi. He has reported the matter to Himanshu Roy, joint commissioner of police (Crime).

Roy refused to comment. This is the second time the aspiring politician claims to have received such calls. Earlier this year, some anonymous callers asked him to withdraw his nominations from the by polls in Bhiwandi.
