The Kandivli police on Tuesday arrested a father-son duo in an attempt to murder case. The duo allegedly stabbed two men in a fit of rage over a trivial issue, said the police. The accused, identified as Rajnikanth, 55, and Dipesh Rajbhor, 32, are residents of Iraniwadi in Kandivli (West).
According to police, the incident took place around 11.30pm on Monday when the victims – Vijay Khorasia, 25, a building contractor and Hitesh Baria, 23, a businessman – were standing on a road near their home along with two friends. Dipesh, who was returning home with his three-year-old daughter from a nearby ice cream parlour, brushed one of the victims as he drove past them at high speed, said the police.
Following the incident, Khorasia and Baria warned Dipesh, who stopped his motorcycle and hurled abuses at the victims. He even told them that he would come back to settle scores, said the police.
The victims told that police that they asked Dipesh not to use abusive language as his daughter was with him and it would leave a bad impression on her. Dipesh then went home and came back in a few minutes with a knife in hand along with his father. “He then stabbed Khorasia below the armpit and Baria in his abdomen,” said senior inspector S Ghatge of Kandivli police station.
The victims were rushed to Bhagwati Hospital, where Baria is said to be in a critical condition.
