The NM Joshi Marg police have arrested a father-son duo for allegedly killing their neighbour, who allegedly picked a fight with them after getting drunk.

On Thursday night, police said Desh Borkar (27) and his father Gajanan (52) — vegetable vendors residing at Gomata Nagar, Lower Parel — were sitting in the passageway of their building when a drunk Jeetu Thakur (27) picked a fight with them over a trivial matter.

They then hit Thakur, who fell and hit his head on the floor.

Hearing the chaos, Thakur’s mother, Gulab (50), rushed out and found him lying in a pool of blood.

She raised an alarm and residents of the building rushed Thakur to Poddar Hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.

The residents then handed over the Borkars to the police.

“The court has remanded them in police custody for five days,” said Police Sub-Inspector S. Dhole.

“We will investigate whether the duo had fought with Thakur earlier and whether the murder was pre-meditated.”
