Film City shootout

A day after the shootout at Film City in Goregaon (East), the police tracked down the owner of the motorbike on which two shooters had come to execute the shootout on Friday afternoon. The officials said that the two-wheeler was not stolen and that the person who had the custody of the bike stays in Goregaon.

Investigations revealed that the two shooters, who were wearing helmets, dumped the bike after firing at least four rounds on Shrikant Shinde alias Raju. Shinde suffered three bullet wounds in the attack.

Police sources added that they have narrowed down suspects who are likely to have either hatched the plan or executed it.

“The owner of the bike is a Malad resident who had given his two-wheeler to his friend in Goregaon. We learnt that the Goregaon-based person had given the bike to his friend for a few hours on Friday when the incident took place. The identity of the said friend and the shooters is being established,” said a police officer, requesting anonymity.

The officials at Aarey Sub police station questioned several suspects based on the leads which emerged during the investigation. They, however, denied having detained anybody.

While Shinde is recuperating in hospital, his family claims that the incident is a fallout of professional rivalry.
