Film on ways to dispose of flag out soon

Every year, after Independence Day and Republic day, the city’s roads and public dustbins brim with discarded flags.
Most citizens tend to throw the tricolour away without so much as a thought, which amounts to disrespecting the flag.
But a group of citizens are working on a 20-minute documentary under the banner ‘Project Tiranga’, which will show how the flag must be handled and correctly disposed of. The movie will be made public before August 15.
“Many of us don’t know how to handle and dispose of the flag and tend to disrespect it by throwing it. We can hoist the flag in our homes or offices but it needs to be done with care. We have included the protocol of handling and dispose of the flag in the movie,” said Jaiprakash Bhande, founder, Project Tiranga.
The project group includes representatives from 33 different communities including Sikhs, Muslims and Hindus. Around seven people are working on making the documentary.
“We will upload the film on our website and on our Facebook page. We will distribute it to as many people as possible to spread awareness,” added Bhande.
