Find 3-yr-old’s killer, demand Cuffe Parade residents

More than 500 people gathered outside Cuffe Parade police station on Thursday demanding that the police find the unidentified accused in the case involving a three-year-old girl whose murdered body was found at Nariman Point on Wednesday.

More than 500 people gathered outside Cuffe Parade police station on Thursday demanding that the police find the unidentified accused in the case involving a three-year-old girl whose murdered body was found at Nariman Point on Wednesday.

The protesters consisted of people residing in Ambedkar Nagar, at Sassoon Dock at Cuffe Parade where the victim, Karishma Chavan, lived. Karishma’s body was found in an open space close to Vij Bhavan at Nariman Point, on Wednesday.

Social activist Subhadra Gaikwad, who is a resident of Ambedkar Nagar said, “We want these murders to stop and the police have to take appropriate action to ensure that.”

The protesters kept the body of the girl outside the police station after collecting it from JJ Hospital after the post mortem.

Iqbal Shaikh, assistant commissioner of police (Colaba division) said the protesters had to be convinced and forced out of the premises.

Constables accompanied the protesters till the crematorium to ensure a peaceful funeral. “We will protest at the Mumbai police commissioner’s office if we are not given justice,” said Dhananjay Chavan, the victim’s uncle.


20-yr-old’s body found at Cuffe Parade

The body of a 20-year-old was found by locals at Fishermen’s Colony in Cuffe Parade on Thursday. The victim, Harshal Rao, is a resident of Thakurwada area. Rao’s father Samad, however, told the police he suspected foul play as his son had no reason to go near the seashore. Rao was a second year JC student at Siddharth College and was missing since Monday, the police said adding they suspect he drowned as his body was found near the shore. A case of accidental death has been registered. htc
