MUMBAI: A massive fire broke out near Indira Nagar slums at Mankhurd on Tuesday. No casualties were reported. The fire emanated around 3pm on an open plot, which was used to store scrap. The blaze was contained within two hours. Nine fire engines, eight water tankers, and one ambulance were rushed to the spot. PS Rahangdale, chief fire officer, said, “The fire was brought under control before it spread to the slums. Locals claim the fire spread owing to the oil in the area. I have asked the ward officer to investigate whether oil is being illegally processed in the area.”
