At this unique party, nobody will mind if you turn up in your trackpants and sports shoes. A city gym is now turning into a gig venue and will host monthly performances by indie artistes. The initiative, titled Binge Sessions, will be held at Leena Mogre’s Fitness Academy and it will give attendees a chance to work out as they listen to the artistes croon their numbers.

“Our intention is to give people a completely different experience. The event will flow in such a manner that we will progress from lower decibel acts to higher ones. So Shibani Kashyap will start the show, followed by the band Duncun Rufus. These performances will lead to a finale set by DJ Ritesh Gonsalves,” informs Aarnavv Shirsat, on behalf of the organising company.

Binge Sessions will be held every month, and each edition will feature two independent acts. “Fitness expert Leena Mogre will also provide health tips during the acts,” says Shirsat, adding, “The response we have got so far is overwhelming. We have already given away 500 passes.”

Other Offbeat gig venues inside a retail store
The All Star Jamm gigs, which have been on for over a year now, are held at the Vero Moda store in Santacruz (W). Each edition features a motley group of singers and musicians jamming to each other’s’ songs.

In a salon
The Bandra salon Jean Claude Biguine hosts gigs on its terrace. It doesn’t boast of the best acoustics, but with proper logistics, it has the potential to become a great gig venue.

Entry on first-come-first-serve basis. Check out for details.
