The Vashi police arrested four men on Saturday for allegedly killing a sandwich vendor.

The police found Dinesh Yadav’s (30) body in Juhugaon creek on Saturday morning and after investigations arrested Ashok Nisar (22), Gopi Vanshi (20), Sitaram Nisar (19) and Kamlesh Gaund (19) — all residents of Juhugaon.

Police said one of the accused, Ashok, was allegedly having an affair with Yadav’s wife, Rina (25).

They are now interrogating Rina to find out if she too was involved in the crime.

“Yadav was killed two days back. His throat was slit and his body was thrown into the creek,” said Inspector Rajkumar Chafekar, of the Vashi police station.

“During investigations, we learnt that Rina and Ashok had an illicit affair, which was possibly the motive behind the murder,” Chafekar added. “He may have hatched the murder plan with his nephew, Sitaram, and friends. We will question Yadav’s wife.”

Neighbours said that Yadav had recently stopped working and was financially dependant on his wife.

Rakesh Sutarak, the owner of the chawl where Yadav lived in, identified his body.
