Four arrested for robbing auto drivers

A gang of four was arrested for robbing autorickshaw drivers on Tuesday. Roshan Yadav, 23, Pravin alias Babu Bhanse, 28, Nitin Nisargandh, 20, and Pradeep alias Babu Thelang, 27, robbed autorickshaw drivers by posing as passengers.

“They would approach auto drivers as passengers at night and ask the driver to take them to deserted places,” said additional commissioner of police (crime), Dhananjay Kamlakar.

“On reaching, they would brandish weapons and loot them. They would normally loot the drivers of valuables near Upvan, Thane Mental Hospital, Samatanagar, Mulla Baug and Shivainagar,” he added.

The police have so far detected five previous crimes committed by the gang.

The police have so far recovered an auto-rickshaw, four mobile phones and wristwatches worth Rs 1.4 lakh from them.
