The Juvenile Justice Board has convicted the four boys, who were arrested for raping a nine-year-old girl on the premises of a shelter attached with a Bandra school in April.
"The principal magistrate of the Juvenile Justice Board on Tuesday found all four boys guilty of raping the girl,” confirmed Samad Shaikh, senior inspector of the Bandra police station.
The boys will be sent to the Goa branch of a reform institute, where they will be housed till the time they turn 18.
The incident came to light in April, when the authorities of the shelter and school held an interactive session in which each inmate was asked about problems they were facing.
The victim, a class 1 student at a Bandra school told the authorities that she had been sexually abused by the four boys — one is nine years old, another 10 years old and two boys are aged 12 — in the shelter repeatedly since March.
The school has a home for destitute children attached, which houses more than 300 boys and girls.
The shelter authorities even called in a gynaecologist for counselling, when the victim told how the boys abused her sexually, after which a police complaint was filed.
On April 7, the police arrested the four boys, who are students of classes 3, 4 and 5.
