Four held for illegally ferrying cattle

Bajrang Dal activists seized two vehicles allegedly carrying cattle without the requisite documents on Sunday. The CBD Belapur pol-ice have arrested four people.

Uddhav Kharade, an activist, said: “We had information that cattle would be illegally transported to the Deonar abattoir from Solapur. We found 30 calves in one vehicle and 12 bulls in the other.”

The activists then informed the police who seized the cattle and sent them to a Vashi village animal centre. Ramesh Mohite, senior inspector, said: “We verified that those ferrying the cattle didn’t have proper documents.”
