A 24-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly kidnapping and raping a 17-year-old girl.
The victim’s family had lodged an FIR, alleging that Kailash Bora, who assisted them in their footwear-making unit, barged into their Kurla house on December 12, 2010. He threatened them and kidnapped their daughter. The family also alleged that Bora took gold jewellery worth Rs65,000 from their house.
On Monday, the Padokala police in Ludhiana told them that the accused and the girl were there in the city. The police arrested Bora and handed him over to the Nehru Nagar police. The medical tests confirmed that they had physical relationship. The police slapped rape and kidnap charges against Bora as sexual intercourse with minor amounts to rape. “The victim has been sent to the Dongri children’s home,” said police inspector J Godse.
