Three men and a woman allegedly manhandled the driver of an Innova and robbed him after he brushed his car against their Lancer at Versova.
The accused fled with Rs 2,000 cash and the car’s music system.
On Friday, Vinod Singh, a driver, was parking the Innova near Sameer Hall in Versova when he accidentally brushed against a Lancer, police said.
“The people in the Lancer got angry and started arguing with Singh,” said Senior Police Inspector Suresh Nalavade, of the Versova police station.
Singh claimed that while two of the men held his hands behind his back, the third man caught him by his collar.
The three men allegedly threatened Singh dire consequences and snatched his cellphone, Rs 2,000 from his trouser pocket and the even the music system from the car.
“The four then got into the Lancer and drove off before Singh could react,” added Nalavade.
Singh managed to note the Lancer’s number and gave it to the police, who forwarded the same to the Regional Transport Office (RTO).
They found that the Lancer was registered with an RTO in Kolhapur. The police are now seeking details of the car’s owner.
This is the second case of road rage reported in the city in two days. On Friday, a BPO car driver allegedly broke the windshield of a BEST bus and assaulted the driver for blocking his way at Malad.
