"I can't believe Taruni is gone. We used to cycle every day, and I still feel she will call me tomorrow morning and ask me to go cycling with her,'" said Mahima Saigal, 14, a close friend of child actor Taruni Sachdev, who died in the air crash in Nepal.
Mahima was one of 40 teenagers who lit candles in memory of their "bubbly and happy-go-lucky" friend at Mount Mary Church in Bandra on Tuesday.
"Taruni was a cheerful and talented girl. She was focused and good at studies," said Sandhya Balakrishnan, principal, Avabai Petit Girls High School in Bandra.
The school will hold a prayer session on June 7 for Sachdev, when classes resume for the new academic year.
Tanishka Pillai, 14, couldn't hold back her tears while lighting a candle for her "best friend".
On Monday, minutes before the aircraft was to take off, Sachdev had sent a text message to Pillai that said: "I love you".
However, Sachdev's flight crashed before Pillai could reply: "I love you too".
