Gangster-turned-builder, Ashwin Naik, was released on Friday, after being granted bail in the third extortion case registered against him by the crime branch. Naik has been granted anticipatory bail in all previous extortion cases.
“Naik was granted bail on Friday on a surety of Rs25,000 in the third case,” his advocate Bharat Mane said.
In the first extortion case, the Sewree sessions court granted anticipatory bail to Naik on June 6 on a surety of Rs15,000.
He was immediately arrested in the second extortion case and remanded in judicial custody till June 14.
In the third extortion case, Naik was sent to police custody till June 22.
On June 18, the crime branch arrested Naik for allegedly colluding with the owner of a leading fish-therapy pedicure chain.
