Budget carrier GoAir announced a flash sale offering 17 lakh discounted air tickets starting at Rs1,469 on Sunday.
The five-day sale could be the last such short-term offer this year, which saw more than a dozen flash sales offering all-inclusive one-way economy class tickets at prices cheaper than two-tier AC train rides.
According to the GoAir website, the sales will be available across most domestic routes operated by the airline.
The tickets are available for travel between January and March next year.
“It is our continuous endeavour to bring the best offers and services to our customers. We are delighted to announce special affordable fares. People can enjoy the benefits of air travel and holidays with numerous frequencies at comfortable timings to all the cities we fly to,” said Giorgio De Roni, the chief executive officer, GoAir.
While the flash sale could benefit last minute fliers planning to travel in beginning of January, it seems to be largely aimed at whipping up passengers’ volume during the lean January-March period.
“Leisure travel on domestic routes normally settles down by the end New Years’. But travellers could make use of the sale for several long weekends in the beginning of the next year,” said a Colaba-based travel agent requesting anonymity.
