A three-storey structure in Malad (West) caught fire on Monday, however no casualties were reported.
The fire erupted in the gala of the plastic manufacturing unit located inside the Bombay Talkies Compound. Officials said that electronics goods are also manufactured in the building.
The fire brigade officials said they received a call at around 3.30 am by a local resident. The fire was doused by 7.30pm, around four hours after the fire officials reached the spot. As the fire erupted early in the morning, when the unit was locked, no casualties were reported. However, property inside the building has been damaged.
Fire Chief Uday Tatkare said, “The cause of the fire has not been ascertained. But it appears that the fire started from the gala, which is on the ground floor. Since it was a plastic and electronic manufacturing unit, within seconds the entire building was engulfed in flames.”
