The state stayed deals worth more than Rs 2,500 crore signed during the tenure of G.S. Gill, former managing director of City and Industrial Develop-ment Corporation (Cidco) in the last six months.

"The decisions regarding land allotments, changes in tender conditions and permissions to change land usage will be evaluated," Chief Minister Ashok Chavan told the state Legislative Council on Thursday. Urban Development Secretary T.C. Benjamin will conduct the probe.

The Opposition had questioned Cidco's dealings on July 20, asking the government why the body had granted Larsen and Toubro , which is building a railway station and complex at Seawoods, monetary concessions worth Rs 635 crore in March.

The controversial decisions include rights given to a consortium to develop a Rs 1,530-crore Bollywood theme park at Kharghar and permission for Metropolis Hotel to sell part of the 12-acre plot allotted to it in 2008 to build a hotel and convert it into a residential one.
