Three unidentified men assaulted the Honorary General of Greece consulate at her residence in Santacruz on Sunday. The men made away with cash and valuables worth Rs 2.04 lakh. The incident took place around 3pm, police said.

Jeru Nauroz Vakil, 74, a resident of Baharestan bungalow located in Jeetendra Lane on Juhu Tara Road, was at home with her son and four servants.

According to an officer from Santacruz police station, the victim and her son were sitting in different rooms while the servants were taking an afternoon nap. “Three men entered the house through the kitchen window and locked the servants’ room. They then headed straight to the place where the cupboard containing the cash and ornaments was kept,” the officer said.

Vakil heard some commotion and decided to check the room. However, one of the men attacked her with a knife. Vakil sustained minor cuts on her face.

The men fled from the spot while Vakil alerted other members in the house and reported the matter to the police.

Mohan Rathod, one of the servants at Vakil’s house, said: “As it was after lunch, we were all sleeping. It was only after madam opened our room’s door we found out about the incident. She was bleeding and was taken to the hospital. She came back home after being given treatment."

M Chaudhuri, senior inspector, Santacruz police station, said that a search for the three men was on. They have been booked for theft, assault and trespassing.
