Highlight Story

A descendent of the throne of erstwhile state of Gondal in Gujarat allegedly shot himself at his residence in Worli on
Wednesday night.

The deceased was on Thursday identified as Ganadhitya Jadeja (65) who belonged to a prominent family based in Rajkot district.

The Worli police officials said that Jadeja’s body was found in bathroom of his flat on the eight floor of Urmi Building at Worli seaface.

An official from the Worli Police Station said, “Jadeja was residing in the house with his 55-year-old female companion and two other servants for the past several years. He allegedly shot himself when all of them were fast asleep on Wednesday night.” The police said, at around 9.30 am, his partner was searching for Jadeja in the house. However, when she did not find him, she went to the bathroom and was shocked to see him lying in a pool of blood with a revolver at his side.

The police were informed about the incident. The officials arrived at the spot and found a suicide note in the bathroom that stated ‘nobody was responsible for his death’.

The Worli police however stated that they have not come across anything that would point towards the reason behind him taking such an extreme step.

Another official from the Worli Police added, “Jadeja was suffering from depression in the last few months, and was under psychiatric treatment.

There was also a property dispute case at his hometown in Gondal.” The police are now investigating whether the revolver that was used to commit suicide is licensed or not. As of now, the police have ruled out any foul play behind his suicide.

“There seems to be no foul play. We have notified his family members about the incident. His body has been sent for post mortem,” added the officer.
