A handwriting expert, while deposing before a sessions court on Wednesday, confirmed accused Kannada actress Maria Susairaj’s presence in a mall from where she allegedly bought articles to destroy the evidence after Neeraj Grover’s murder at her Malad residence on May 7, 2008.
The state’s chief examiner of documents, DP Ahiwale, told the court that the signature on the bill receipt of the card payment made in a mall at Malad matched with Susairaj’s specimen signatures taken by the crime branch.
The same was also compared with Susairaj’s signature on the leave and licence agreement of her flat where the media executive was allegedly killed.
“The whole case is based on circumstantial evidence and this is one of the important links that proves the circumstance against the accused,” said public prosecutor, RV Kini.
Defence lawyer Wahab Khan, however, maintained that the deposition did not affect their case.
