After Anna Hazare went on a day-long fast in Rajghat, Delhi, on Wednesday, volunteers of India Against Corruption in (IAC) the city showed their support to the anti-corruption crusader and yoga guru Baba Ramdev by observing a fast at Azad Maidan.

About 100 volunteers of IAC visited the Azad Maidan where Ramdev’s supporters are staging protest and 10 volunteers observed a day-long fast. “We protested against the undemocratic action by the government on Sunday night. We support the cause they are fighting for,” said Mayank Gandhi, member, IAC.

The Delhi police evicted Ramdev and his supporters from Ramlila Maidan on Sunday midnight. Ramdev was sent to his ashram in Haridwar.

“IAC volunteers from 190 cities across the nation are supporting Ramdev and Hazare’s cause. We are supporting the cause and not any individual,” said Praful Vora, another member of IAC.

Meanwhile, 27 followers of Ramdev continued with their huger strike on Wednesday. “Baba has asked us to ensure that we stage dharna regardless whether we fast or not. But many of us will fasting till the time he continues,” said Suresh Naik, Mumbai president, Bharat Swabhiman Nyas (BSN).

Reacting to the presence of IAC volunteers, Naik said, “We are happy to see the united force against corruption and black money and we hope to win the battle.”
