She’s overwhelmed by Mumbai — it’s everything she thought it would be and more. But it doesn’t surprise or shock her.

“It felt familiar like Beijing or New York. I feel a lot of love here,” says Patricia Smith, an American soul healer and teacher who arrived in Mumbai two days ago.

The first-time visitor to India will hold workshops and conduct healing sessions across the country, including one in Mumbai.

“In the short time I’ve been here, I’ve seen people busy and preoccupied with travel and work and looking after their families. Most of them don’t have time for themselves,” she says.

Smith teaches Soul Mind Body Medicine, a form of holistic healing, which she says can cure everything from cancer of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD).

And Smith speaks from experience, having walked the talk.

She dramatically recovered from cancer and an accident using Soul Mind Body Medicine. “Earlier, I was a skeptic and didn’t believe in alternative medicine,” says Smith, who is now a Divine Soul Communicator, an advanced Soul Reader and one of the 13 worldwide representatives of Soul Mind Body Medicine.

The brand of medicine is a technique of healing that works on the soul and consciousness of the body’s systems, organs and cells.

“The techniques influence matter inside the cells and energy outside the cells,” says Smith.

“They work on the emotional body to heal imbalances such as depression, anxiety, fear, anger and grief. They work on the mental body to heal mental imbalances such as delusions and confusion and they work on the spiritual body, giving you techniques to clear bad karma.”

She attributes her enlightenment to her mentor and teacher Master Zhi Gag Sha, the pioneer of this technique and a New York Times best selling author, who has got the Martin Luther award for his work.

Smith says anyone can learn the techniques.

“In fact, that is the essence of the medicine. Dr Sha believes that it should be widespread and passed on to as many people who can use it,” says Smith.

The medicine involves techniques such as chanting and hand movements that help circulate the energy in the right direction.

Her clients range from people with severe back problems to a young businessman with OCD, both have been cured.

And to all those skeptics who may scoff at the idea of this medicine, the soul reader says: “Just give it a chance. Try it for three months. If nothing changes, you can always stop.”

For now she’s off to Pune and then Mangalore for a workshop and then to heal the world.
