To ensure that internal issues of the state public health department do not affect the health services provided to people, the government is setting up an electronic internal grievance redressal system for over 1.5 lakh employees of the department.
As a part of its e-governance initiatives, this system will allow any employee, both existing and retired, to lodge complaints about issues related to transfers, promotions, staff shortages.
“Often, employees come to me complaining about issues, which have been pending for years. Sometimes we have two gynaecologists posted at one place while there is a requirement elsewhere. To fix such lacuna we decided to implement a e-system,” said health minister Suresh Shetty on Tuesday.
An employee, Shetty said, can post a complaint on the website, which will be passed on to his seniors. As soon as a complaint is lodged he will be given a timeframe within which it will be addressed. His senior will give him feedback and either dispose the complain or pass it on to the next relevant authority.
“All this will be monitored by the additional chief secretary of the department and action will be taken against those who don’t follow the system,” Shetty added.
