In two separate incidents on Saturday, domestic help stole money and valuables worth Rs 5.68 lakh from their employers’ residence.

In the first incident, the help stole jewellery and cash worth Rs 4.78 lakh from Kandivli-based businessman Deepak Dhar, 35.

Dhar told the police that he had employed Sarita Patel, 30, as domestic help on Saturday. He went out to finish some work and on returning realised that she had allegedly stolen a gold chain worth Rs 4.5 lakh and Rs28,000 cash.

“Patel has been missing ever since,” said an officer from Kandivli police station.

In another incident, a domestic help who had been working for a family at Goregaon for the past few months attacked Chandrakala Agarwal, 61. The accused, Raju, 22, hit Agarwal on her head with a wooden tripod.

“Agarwal was discovered by her son Navin and was taken to Lifeline Hospital,” said Vinayak M Kakade, senior police inspector, Dindoshi police station. Raju stole jewellery worth Rs 40,000 and Rs 50,000 cash.
