A joint action committee comprising senior railway and state officials will ensure that all pending railway projects, especially in Mumbai, are expedited.
Chief minister Prithviraj Chavan and union railway minister, Dinesh Trivedi took this decision on Wednesday in
New Delhi. The ministers discussed issues like making Mumbai’s rail projects world class. They talked about introducing new rail lines, trains and survey of old tracks and trains, expansion and two-laning of rail tracks.
Chavan underlined the need for effective co-ordination with rail authorities at proper levels and wanted to know the status of these projects and expedite them. Henceforth, the committee comprising members from the Indian Railway Board and state’s senior bureaucrats will do this job.
