The Hindu Janjagruti Samiti and Sanatan Sanstha on Tuesday clarified that they had nothing to do with Dr Narendra Dabholkar’s murder.
Abhay Vartak, spokesperson of Sanatan Sanstha, refuted the allegations that the organisation was in involved in the attack. In a press statement, Vartak said that though they had serious differences with Dabholkar, they was no enmity.
Describing his killing as shocking, Vartak said they had opposed Dabholkar by all democratic means for his atheist thoughts.
Sunil Dhanwat, convener of Hindu Janjagruti Samiti, demanded a thorough investigation into the incident.
Dhanwat also admitted that they had serious differences with him over the issue of the anti-superstition bill. “Debate on this bill has been going on for past six-seven years,” he said, adding they would continue to oppose the bill, but in a lawful manner.
