The BMC has put its hospitals on high alert for cases of swine flu among pregnant women. Any pregnant woman with even the slightest flu-like symptoms will be screened for H1N1 now onward.
“We have issued a specific advisory for pregnant women because many of the swine flu patients recently have been pregnant women. Of the 18 people quarantined in city hospitals, five are pregnant women,” said Additional Municipal Commissioner Manisha Mhaiksar. Five more people tested positive for swine flu in Mumbai this weekend, taking the total number of positive cases in the past fortnight to 33.
