Newly elected Mayor Shraddha Jadhav spoke to Hindustan Times about the polls and her plans

Were you tensed about the elections?
There was very little tension but I was confident of our victory.

You were helped by both MNS and SP as they abstained from voting.
Even if they had voted, we still had the majority.

What are your priorities?
Water will be my priority. I want to speed up incomplete water projects. I request people to save water. Rainwater harvesting should be encouraged in all buildings.

How do you plan to solve the problem of encroachments?
It is indeed a grave issue and we will bring out a policy to solve it.

Most departments in the BMC are known for corruption. How do you plan to deal with it?
We are looking forward to restructuring those departments. Corruption won’t be tolerated.
