ICSE (Class 10) and ISC (Class 12) students in Mahara-shtra have outperformed the board’s national pass percentages this year. In the state, 99.93% ICSE students cleared the board exam compared to 98.6% across the country and 99.02% ISC students cleared the exam in the state compared to 97.24% pan India.
The ICSE and ISC results were announced on Tuesday. From the state, 9,602 and 1,328 students had appeared for the ICSE and ISC exams respectively. This year, the state's pass percentage at the ICSE exams improved by 0.17% and by 2.6% at the ISC exams.
"Maharashtra has better schools, better infrastructure, and many of these schools are in Mumbai which is perhaps why the pass percentage was higher compared to the national average," said Gerry Arathoon, additional secretary and officiating chief executive of the board.
The board took a policy decision not to announce a topper this year after receiving negative feedback from schools on the practice.
