The identification parade of Jitendra Rana and his three accomplices, currently in prison in connection with the murders of youngsters Keenan Santos and Reuben Fernandes, will be conducted by the end of the week, said police.
The identification parade is a crucial part of the investigation of the murders, which have caused great uproar in the city.
Santos and Fernandes, along with some friends, were standing outside the Amboli Bar and Kitchen in Andheri (West) on October 20, when Rana, the main accused, and his friends allegedly eve-teased some of Keenan and Reuben’s female friends, also present there. When the duo protested, a brawl broke out. Rana and his friends, armed with knives, attacked Fernades and Santos. While Santos died the same day, Fernandes succumbed to his injuries on October 31.
Rana and his friends were arrested on the day of the incident. “We are expecting that the identification parade of the accused will be carried out by the end of this week," confirmed Vijay Bhoite, senior inspector, DN Nagar police station. 17 others have also been arrested for preventing a police team from arresting Rana and his friends. They are lodged in Arthur Road Jail.
