New fonts will be breathed to life, robots will carry books to their shelves and a host of other innovations will unfold at the Indian Institute of Technology-Bombay’s (IIT-B) Techfest. All of these projects, under the segment called “Techconnect” will feature research and development work by IITB departments.
Techfest is the institute’s annual technology festival and will be held at the campus between January 6 and 8 this year. It is open to the public.
This year, 100 projects by the institute’s departments will be displayed at Techconnect. Last year 80 IIT-B displays found a place at the fest.
“The aim behind Techconnect is to help bring the research done by the departments to the general public as well as to corporates visitors who might be interested in investing in them,” said Revanth Raju, manager of exhibitions at Techfest 2012.
The institute projects will be showcased in a hangar next to the displays brought from around the world. “We wanted to make sure they got as much limelight,” said Raju. Exhibits are short listed after individual departments assess their work and send in proposals. Some of the best get to be showcased.
