In 4 hrs, 2 accidents on same spot

Two accidents occurred in a span of about 4 hours on the same spot on Western Express Highway in Dahisar (East) on Thursday morning.

At 6 am, a speeding trailer hit a stationary tanker near Gokul Anand Hotel on the Western Express Highway in Dahisar (East).

Senior Inspector P Kakad said: “The driver of the trailer fled after crashing into the vehicle. We have registered a case against him for rash and negligent driving. Nobody was injured in the mishap.”

At 11.30 am, Ramakant Tiwari (55) and his wife Vidya (48) were going towards Bhayandar on a bike when a speeding dumper crashed into the vehicle near Ganesh Nagar bus stop.

Vidya, who was riding pillion, was thrown off the bike. She sustained severe head injuries and is critical, said the police.

The police said that Tiwari, a security guard, and his wife live in Borivli. They had recently purchased a house in Bhayander where they were going for some paperwork when the accident took place.

The dumper driver Shivaji Shinde fled after the accident.

Kakad said: “Shinde fled after the accident. He later surrendered to the police. We have booked him for rash and negligent driving.”

On Wednesday, a couple was injured after a speeding dumper hit their bike on the Western Express Highway at Dahisar (East). The dumper driver fled but later surrendered at the Dahisar police station.
