An international school will be conducting a first-of-its-kind job fair for teachers seeking to work in international schools. At Oberoi International School in Goregaon, on Saturday, 13 international schools will be setting up stalls advertising the different vacant teaching positions at their schools.
The fair is open to the 142 teachers, who have signed up for a series of workshops over two days, being jointly organised by Oberoi and the American School of Bombay for teachers of state and national board schools.
"We wanted to offer some kind of community service for the teaching community so we thought of introducing teachers to the international school pedagogy and philosophy," said Andreas Swoboda, head of Oberoi.
"It aims to put forward some of our teaching methodologies and emphasise a shift away from rote learning."
Schools such as Dhirubhai Ambani International School, Ecole Mondiale World School, and NSS Hillspring School are among those that will be participating in the job fair, once the workshops come to an end.
Teachers from across the city and other states have signed up for the workshops. Oberoi school authorities said if the workshops and the fair turned out to be successful, they would plan it as an annual event.
