Jigna Vora, arrested in connection with the murder of journalist J Dey, moved a special MCOCA court seeking bail. She pleaded that she was falsely implicated in the case.
Vora was arrested on November 25 last year on charges of providing key information such as supplying the licence plate number of Dey’s motorcycle and address to Chhota Rajan.
As per the prosecution, Vora instigated Rajan against Dey. In her plea, Vora stated that there was not a single outgoing call made by her to Rajan and therefore it would be wrong to state that she had instigated him.
She further stated that the journalists who claimed that Rajan informed them that she had instigated him had not produced any records of calls made to them by the gangster.
The crime branch has recorded statements of five journalists, who knew both Dey and Vora.
The application will come up for hearing by next week.
