Residents of Jai Bharat Society in Khar West are a worried lot. Their neighbourhood gets flooded every year, and they say that the cleaning work done by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) this year has been found wanting, just like in the past.

Sunil M Dhamane, H-west ward officer, said: “The executive engineer of storm water drains department, and officers from the railway department and the BMC have visited the culvert near Jai Bharat Society. Work is in progress.”

HT accompanied member of H-west Federation, Surindra Khubchandani, and member of Khar Residents’ Association, Anandini Thakoor, along with Advanced Locality Management (ALM) members to identify the flood-prone spots in the area. We examined Jai Bharat Society in Khar, Khar Subway (Golibar Nullah) and Harijan Nullah (Hasnabad Lane).
