She was kidnapped 11 years ago from Borivli station and raped for the last two years by her abductor.
Finally the 14-year-old victim mustered the courage to file a police complaint and end her ordeal.
On Friday, the Bandra police arrested Sudhir Chaudhary (35), a beggar, and charged him with rape, abduction, assault, illegal confinement and criminal intimidation.
The 14-year-old girl’s medical report has confirmed that she had been raped, said the police.
“The girl is one-and-a-half-months pregnant,” said Assistant Police inspector AR Mulani, who is investigating the case. Chaudhary and his girlfriend, identified only as Julie, had allegedly kidnapped the girl from Borivli station in 1999.
The police are looking for Julie, who left Chaudhary five years back.
The victim lived with Chaudhary on the footpath near Tata Colony on SV Road at Bandra (West).
On Wednesday night, when she refused to have intercourse with Chaudhary, he allegedly beat her up.
The teenager finally broke down and shared her ordeal with another beggar, who then took her to the Bandra police station and helped her register a complaint.
The police took down the statements of several beggars living on the pavement near Tata Colony in Bandra (East).
On learning that the police were looking for him, Chaudhary fled on Thursday. But he was spotted in Bandra on Friday and arrested.
The Bandra police will send a letter to the Borivli Government Railway Police to ascertain whether there was a missing person’s complaint registered with them for the victim in 1999.
“We are also trying to find out if Chaudhary is involved other similar cases,” added Mulani.
The teenager has been sent to the children’s home at Mankhurd, while the Bandra police are trying to trace her family.
